Sleeping Beauty

Sleeping Beauty is a multiplayer game that uses an alternative controller with motion sensors, creating an immersive, full-body social experience.

The theme of this game was "Weird Controls," created for an assignment in the REPLAY master’s program.

WARNING: This game is designed to be played with a custom controller—a modified gumball machine transformed into a monster equipped with motion sensors!

Objective: Steal the Monster’s Eggs

Welcome, brave souls! Your mission is to steal precious eggs from the sleeping monster’s lair without waking it. But beware – the monster is a light sleeper, and one wrong move could spell your doom!

The Monster’s Eyes: The monster slumbers deeply, with its eyes closed… most of the time. Beware, for every few moments, one eye will flicker green, watching for intruders.

Move only when the eye on your side is closed to stay hidden.

But if you’re caught moving under a green eye, the monster awakens! The eye will blaze red, an alarm will sound, and you’ll lose 1 health point before it drifts back to sleep. Be cautious – too many missteps, and you’ll be forced to flee empty-handed.

Magic Touch: A mystical touch sensor lies within the lair. Activate it, and a 10-second countdown begins. When the time is up, the monster’s eyes will begin opening and closing faster, sensing even the slightest movements.

The quest ends if:

Either of you loses 3 health points, or a predetermined amount of time passes.

When the quest is over, the thief with the most eggs escapes victorious!
